Mohali RPG attack: Canada resident conspirator, Khalistan-ISI link unearthed

The Punjab Police on Friday arrested six people in connection with the   rocket-propelled grenade blast   that took place at the Punjab Police Intelligence headquarters in Mohali on Monday. Khalistani terrorist group Babbar Khalsa International (BKI) and local gangsters were involved in the attack carried out on the behest of Pakistani intelligence agency ISI. Canada resident Lakhbir Singh Landa, a close associate of Pakistan-based Khalistani terrorist Harvinder Singh Rinda is the main conspirator of the attack, Punjab DGP VK Bhawra said in a press conference. Landa allegedly carried out the RPG attack with the help of associates Nishan Singh and Chadat Singh, both residents of Tarn Taran. The Police said one Nidhas Singh arranged the stay of attackers at his house and his contacts. Court order on Kashi Vishwanath Temple-Gyanvapi Mosque site in Varanasi: history and context

A Varanasi court on Thursday ordered that the video survey of the Gyanvapi Mosque located next to the Kashi Vishwanath Temple  be resumed  and a report submitted by May 17.  The court had ordered the inspection last month on a petition by five Hindu women seeking round-the-year access to pray at “a shrine behind the western wall of the mosque complex”, but the exercise had been halted after allegations of bias were made against the official in charge.

Shahjahanpur (UP):  A 28-year-old government school teacher was allegedly raped by a man who recorded a video of the crime in a bid to pressure her to change her religion and marry him, police said on Friday. A case has also been registered under the Uttar Pradesh Prohibition of Unlawful Conversion of Religion Act against five people, including the accused Amir, a police official said. His mother, sister, brother, and another relative are also named in the FIR registered on Thursday, the official said. The woman in her complaint alleged that on May 4, while she was on her way home, the accused, who is from the same village as her, offered to drop her off. He then made her smell some substance after which she went unconscious and then he allegedly raped her, police said citing the FIR. Colombo:  Sri Lanka's new Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe has said he looks forward to closer ties with India during his term and thanked India for its economic assistance to the country as it tackles the worst economic crisis since independence. Ranil Wickremesinghe, 73, was sworn-in as Sri Lanka's 26th Prime Minister on Thursday to stabilise the country's debt-ridden economy and end the political turmoil. "I want a closer relationship and I want to thank Prime Minister (Narendra) Modi," Prime Minister Wickremesinghe said, referring to the Indian economic assistance to his country. His remarks came during a religious ceremony held here last night after he took the oath.
